It’s been awhile. Back in 2013, Chris Hero (then known as Kassius Ohno) was released from his NXT contract. After spending a few years on the independent circuit under his more famous name, Hero is coming back to NXT under the Ohno moniker, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Hero didn’t have the most success in NXT in his nearly two years on the roster. While in NXT, Hero didn’t win any titles, have any major feuds or win any major matches. Since then though, Hero has rebuilt his reputation on the independent scene, primarily in Evolve Wrestling where he won the Heavyweight Title.

This is a rather odd choice but seems to fit the idea of NXT trying to pick up whatever top indy talent they can get their hands on. Hero is definitely a big deal and seemed to leave NXT on good terms. His style might fit better in the modern NXT as he never quite worked in the original incarnation of the promotion.

Are you excited for Hero to be back in NXT? Do you see this run going better than the original? Let us know in the comments below.
