Ouch. The wrestling business can be a dangerous one and you never know how long someone is going to be able to last in the ring. No matter how talented you are, there is no way to guarantee complete safety. Even if you can avoid major injuries, there are still smaller ones that can build up over time just through wear and tear. One way or another, a big name is going onto the shelf for the time being.

While a lot of fans might not be so fond of her, there is no denying that Charlotte is one of the biggest stars in wrestling today. She has shattered the record for women’s titles and odds are she is going to take that number a lot higher in the future. It is easy to see why and while she might win those titles a little too fast, it might be a good while before before she does so again.

According to PWInsider.com, Charlotte will be out of action for about six weeks in order to undergo some elective surgery. It is not clear what is wrong but she is reportedly neither injured nor sick. Missing six weeks would put her back around Summerslam, though it is not clear when she is undergoing surgery. Charlotte was attacked by Nia Jax on this week’s Monday Night Raw, which will be used to write her off television for the surgery.

Charlotte is great when healthy. Check out what she can do in the ring:

Opinion: I haven’t been too fond of Charlotte’s excessive pushes at times but it’s never good to see someone having to go under the knife. The elective part is a good sign though as it could be for a number of things. If nothing else it might keep her away from needing a much longer layoff in the future, which would certainly be a good thing. Hopefully she can come back better, though the time away might also let the crowd miss her a bit.
