So it wasn’t the original idea? Earlier this week, WWE presented its annual Hell In A Cell event and the ending did not go very well. The main event concluded with the Fiend Bray Wyatt losing the match via referee stoppage after Universal Champion Seth Rollins crushed him with a variety of weapons. This was not well received and it turns out that there was another plan in mind.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plan for the ending of the match called for Wyatt to take a huge fall off of the Cell for the stoppage, only to pop up to lay out Rollins with the Mandible Claw. The ending was designed by Vince McMahon, who chose the stoppage to prevent Wyatt from being pinned while also having Rollins as champion going into the upcoming WWE Draft.

Here’s your setup. Check out how they got to the ending:

Opinion: This is one of those situations where WWE was trying to get two results at the same time and it fell apart. Simply put, if that is the best result they have, the match should not have taken place. I’m not sure how long WWE plans these things in advance but it isn’t a good sign if they couldn’t see something like this coming. It’s also kind of shame that they did not go with the original ending, which does sound a little better.
