It was their night. This month’s pay per view was all about champions (except for the matches that weren’t about them) with every “Smackdown Live” title being defended. Some of these matches were certainly more high profile than others but they were certainly some of the main focal points. So how did the champions do?

“Clash of Champions 2017” saw one title change hands out of four when Dolph Ziggler defeated Baron Corbin and Bobby Roode to become the new United States Champion. Women’s Champion Charlotte, Tag Team Champions the Usos and WWE Champion AJ Styles all retained their titles.

Here’s what the new champion had to say after winning his title.

Opinion: For a show that was supposed to be about champions, there wasn’t a lot of action involving the titles. The title change helped (assuming you can get your head around Ziggler winning a championship in 2017) but a lot of the show felt like it didn’t really need to happen. If nothing else, the show didn’t exactly feel like a showcase of champions. The fact that almost every show features those titles being defended doesn’t help things.
