He’ll be back. Roman Reigns has ruled WWE for nearly three and a half years now, with a Universal Title reign that is reaching all time levels of longevity. Reigns rarely defends his title these days however, mainly only defending on major shows. That can make for a big moment and now we know when he will be defending again, plus an important detail about what not to expect.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Reigns’ next title defense is expected to take place at the Royal Rumble in January 2024. At the moment, his opponent is not known, but LA Knight is not expected to be the challenger. There have been backstage pushes or Knight to get the shot but Triple H has someone else in mind. Knight unsuccessfully challenged Reigns earlier this month at Crown Jewel.

Opinion: It means a lot for Reigns to defend the title these days and while it is a long time before his next defense, it will make things all the more interesting. I’m curious to see who might get the shot as Knight would seem to be the most logical choice, but apparently that won’t be the case. There are multiple options to come after Reigns and now WWE is going to have to pick one of them.
