Bring Him In? WWE Reportedly Interested In Free Agent Former World Champion

They have a plan for him. There are all kinds of people who come together to make a wrestling event work and some of them do not even get in the ring. Some of those backstage workers are the kind of people who help make the show work well and are often former in-ring stars themselves. Now WWE reportedly has their eye on someone else for that kind of a role.

Over the weekend, Impact Wrestling World Champion Alex Shelley retained his title over Nick Aldis in the main event of Slammiversary. According to PWInsider.com by way of WrestleZone.com, Aldis is done with Impact Wrestling and officially a free agent. WWE is reported interested in bringing him in as a producer, with a possible tryout as soon as next month. There is no word on if Aldis, 36, is interested in being a producer as opposed to continuing his in-ring career.

Opinion: I’m not sure how this is going to go, as Aldis becoming a producer would be quite the change of pace. Aldis does seem to have a mind for wrestling, but I don’t know why he would be chosen as a producer rather than a wrestler. Maybe that will change, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see Aldis stay in the ring elsewhere rather than becoming a producer in WWE.
