Well there’s your surprise. AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works in a good way. The company has opened a new stage of all kinds of wrestlers and that is a positive change for everyone involved. It gives wrestlers young and old another high level place to go and it could be very interesting to see where some of those changes are going. That was the case again this week.
There are certain people in wrestling who are absolute legends. Just by looking at them, you know who they are and almost everything about them because they have earned their reputation. That is the case with several wrestlers who do not actually get in the ring anymore, but still pop up every now and then for a special cameo. AEW offered that again with a legendary name.
This was an amazing moment. Check out who made a surprise appearance:
Sting made his AEW debut this week on Dynamite, saving the Nightmare Family from Team Taz. Sting appeared after Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin defeated Team Taz but were attacked again following the match. After Team Taz ran off, Sting looked at both Rhodes and Allin before leaving without doing anything physical. There is no word on if Sting will be wrestling for AEW or how frequently he will be appearing.
Opinion: That was one of those things I didn’t think I’d actually see so well done on the surprise. The lights going out made me wonder who we were going to see and then Sting’s name came on the screen. That is the kind of thing that can be quite disappointing but it worked incredibly well here. I don’t need to see Sting wrestle again, but having him appear like this was incredibly effective. Use him sparingly and he can be a big deal. Nice job on this one.
