He’s not interested. There are all kinds of concept matches and events in WWE, some of which are one offs and some of which are longer form competition. Every so often these things are either spread out or kept short depending on which format makes the most sense at the time. Now though, it seems that WWE is not interested in bringing something back in any form.

WWE had previously announced that its next even in Saudi Arabia was to be called King And Queen Of The Ring, with a focus on the two tournaments. However, last week it was announced that the event would now be changed to Night Of Champions, a former regular WWE event. According to PWInsider Elite, it is “less likely” that the tournaments will be returning anytime soon, citing recent creative changes and a decision made by Triple H. WWE reportedly changed the show to Night Of Champions to revive the concept for the first time since 2015.
The tournaments (or the Queen’s Crown in the women’s case) have had quite the history. Check out how they have gone over the years:
Opinion: That’s a bit of an odd choice after having the tournament announced but Night Of Champions makes for a more interesting show anyway. The King/Queen of the Ring concept is something that does not exactly have a perfect record and there is a real chance that the winners don’t go very far with the crown. Maybe we’ll see it again someday, but it would be nice to have it set up a little better in advance.
