So much for that. There have been a vairety of changes to the wrestling world this year and some of them have been quite surprising. This includes probably the biggest change of them all, as Vince McMahon has resigned from his role at WWE and TKO over a variety of allegations. McMahon still owns stock in the company though and that has led people to wonder about his future. Now we have a better idea of where that stands.

TKO President Mark Shapiro spoke at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecon Conference in San Francisco this week and was asked about McMahon. Shapiro said “We’re not in conversations with him. We don’t know his motives, his plans or his timeline. He doesn’t work for the company, doesn’t come into the office and he’s not coming back to the company. And that’s where we sit.“ (transcription courtesy of PWInsider.com). Shapiro sold over $400 million of stock earlier this week.

Opinion: With everything going on around McMahon, I’m not sure how anyone could reasonable expect him to make a return to WWE. McMahon was already not exactly the most popular name in the company and then everything serious came out. There is no real way to keep someone like that around and now TKO seems to understand that. I can’t imagine McMahon will be back and that is the best choice imaginable right now.
