The big one. Title changes can mean a lot in the wrestling world because you can see the changing of the guard right in front of your eyes. It can be fascinating to see what happens when someone gets their hands on a title for the first time as it means that a promotion is getting behind them in some way. That was the case this week on NXT in a pretty special moment.
Bronson Reed defeated Johnny Gargano to become the new North American Champion in the main event of this week’s edition of NXT. The match took place inside a steel cage with Reed pinning Gargano after a Tsunami splash. The win marks Reed’s first title win in WWE and follows a loss to Gargano for the same title at Takeover: Stand & Deliver Night Two back in April.
This was a heck of a match. Check out how the match went down:
Opinion: This is the kind of title change that needed to happen as Gargano has held the title multiple times over a long stretch of time. Reed is someone who has built himself up in recent months and it makes sense to have the title change hands here. Gargano is someone who is going to be able to bounce right back after a loss like this because he has long since been a made man in NXT.
What did you think of the title change? How long will Reed hold the title? Let us know in the comments below.
