That’s quite the name. It’s almost hard to believe that CM Punk has not wrestled a match in about five and a half years. No matter how long he is gone for, the fans seem to think that there is still a chance he could return to the ring one day and shake things up a bit. As unlikely as that seems, and Punk has made it clear that he does not want to wrestle again, he isn’t making things easier by making an announcement.

As announced by the Starrcast Twitter account, CM Punk will be making an appearance at the convention for an interview, along with photographs and autographs. While Starrcast is not officially affiliated with AEW, the conventions are held at the same time as major AEW events. Punk has not wrestled a match since the 2014 Royal Rumble and there is no indication he will be wrestling ever again, though there is always the chance. Starrcast runs from August 29-September 1 in Chicago.

That’s a big announcement. Check out the video and the new slogan:

He did this before. Check out one of Punk’s previous returns:

Raw: CM Punk makes his shocking return to WWE

Opinion: I don’t know if this is going to mean anything as far as Punk returning to the ring but it is certainly a cool moment. Punk’s name alone is going to get some attention and that’s the kind of thing that is good for the convention and AEW as a bonus. There may be no direct connection between AEW and Starrcast, but fans know that they are close together and that is going to get people interested.
