There’s the big one. AEW has been around for a few years now and has developed some reputations in that time. One of the most positive has been about their pay per views, which often include some major events taking place, normally at the end of the show. That was the case again this weekend at All Out, as a huge return went down to wrap up the very eventful night.

In the opening match of AEW All Out, a masked man named the Joker won the Casino Ladder Match, earning a future shot at the AEW World Title. The show’s main event saw CM Punk defeat Jon Moxley to regain the title, after which the Joker revealed himself as the returning Maxwell Jacob Friedman. This is Friedman’s first appearance since May, as he was removed from AEW television after cutting a worked shoot promo on AEW President Tony Khan.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that could be a game changer for AEW and it would not surprise me to see Friedman getting his title shot at Grand Slam in New York City later this month. Friedman is a huge returning star for the company and they certainly need him after a weaker than expected summer. It was the kind of ending that makes a show feel important and that is great to see for an AEW pay per view.
