There’s a reason he’s Le Champion. AEW Dynamite has hit the ground running and holds a pretty good record against NXT. With twelve shows under their belt, AEW has only lost in overall viewership three times and in the key demographic ratings once (with a single draw in viewership). It is clear that they have something wrestling fans want to see and one of their talents is above all of the rest.

Love him or hate him, there is no denying that AEW World Champion Chris Jericho is the biggest star in the company. He is the most well known name in AEW, has had more success than anyone else and has been on the big stage longer than the rest of the roster. Jericho brings a credibility to AEW and that is invaluable. It turns out that this value pays off in numbers.

According to Wrestling Observer Live, Jericho has yet to have a segment on Dynamite which has been defeated in viewership by a corresponding segment on NXT. This includes both matches and in-ring segments. Jericho has wrestled on Dynamite seven times out of twelve episodes and has appeared on every episode so far. He has been the only AEW World Champion since the show’s debut.

This got some attention. Check out Jericho’s most recent match:

Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised by this as star power means a lot in wrestling. Jericho is presented as the biggest star in AEW and no one really comes close. He knows how to carry himself like a big deal and the fans see him as the same thing. That has been reflected in the viewership and audience, but the question is how many times can that be the case? It won’t last forever and that is a reality AEW needs to understand.
