How bad was it? WWE is the king of wrestling and I don’t think that’s really up for debate, at least from a business perspective. No other wrestling company is anywhere near their level of success and really that isn’t going to change anytime soon. However, that doesn’t mean they’re immune from bad business news and they certainly got some of that today.

Earlier today, WWE released their quarterly financial report and the results were not good. As a result, their stock price plummeted, dropping $13.16 from $98.54 to $85.38, or a loss of 13.35%. According to 411mania.com, overall revenue was down $5.3 million, mainly due to lower attendance at live events and lower merchandise sales. It should be noted that WrestleMania was not included in this quarter.

Something about money plunging. Check out these Money in the Bank leaps (yeah I’m stretching here):

Opinion: These are the kind of things that happen every now and then, but the question is what WWE is going to do to make things better. At the end of the day, there is no way around the fact that the fans aren’t happy with what is being presented on television, which takes away the desire to go see the shows live. That’s hard to overcome but WWE can make things better by improving television. Assuming they actually do so.

What is WWE’s biggest problem? How can they fix it? Let us know in the comments below.
