Uh oh. WWE has not had a dominant star like Roman Reigns in a good many years. Reigns will reach three years as Universal Champion at the end of the month and there is little to suggest that he will be losing his title anytime soon. He has smashed through one opponent after another but at some point something has to stop him. Now something at least might be slowing him down a little.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Him Too? WWE Reportedly Brings In Former World Champion For Special Role
Over the weekend at Summerslam, Reigns successfully defended the WWE Universal Title against Jey Uso in the show’s main event. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Reigns suffered some sort of an injury early in the match and worked through most of it hurt. There is no word on what happened, the nature of his injury, or if he is expected to miss any ring time. Reigns is scheduled to appear this week on SmackDown, but his next title defense has not been announced.
Reigns is something else. Check out some of his recent efforts:
Opinion: This is all going to depend on the details, as if Reigns is only a little banged up and can still wrestle, or only needs a bit of time away from the ring, it doesn’t mean much of anything. Reigns already works a lighter schedule and if he can stand in the ring and maybe hit a spear or something, he’ll be fine. If Reigns is seriously injured we’ll see what WWE does, but for now it is all going to be about how bad things are.
