Backstage Reaction To CM Punk's Jab At Hulk Hogan On Monday Night Raw

Oh it’s fine. There are several things which take place on any given edition of WWE television, many of which are designed to set up interest in something down the line. At the same time though, you will occasionally see things take place which are there for the sake of getting a rise out of people. That was the case earlier this week and it seemed to work rather well.

This week on Monday Night Raw, CM Punk gave an interview where he talked about his efforts to win the Royal Rumble. This included a threat to throw Hulk Hogan out of the Royal Rumble and destroy Hulkamania forever. According to Fightful Select, the line was not scripted but there is no heat on Punk for the line, which had people laughing backstage. This comes after Hogan was soundly booed during his recent appearance on the January 6 Monday Night Raw.

Opinion: The line did not feel scripted when Punk said it in the first place and it does not surprise me that he came up with it as a surprise. Ultimately, it was a harmless line from someone who is currently a top star in WWE and comes at the expense of someone who is not so popular at the moment. It was a perfectly amusing line and that’s all it needed to be all things considered.
