Where are we again? Back at Summerslam, Becky Lynch turned on her friend Charlotte, who had just won the SmackDown Women’s Title. Lynch’s heel turn was wildly cheered, which has been the case in almost every appearance she’s made since then. WWE even tried to edit one of her promos to make the reaction a little more understandable. So what does WWE think is going on at the moment? We might have a bit better idea.

Make sure to check out our SmackDown Live results to see what these two were up to this week.

With the fans cheering Lynch far more than they have been booing her, WWE has shifted away from their traditional face/heel strategy with the two. According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, WWE is letting the fans decide who they want to cheer for, with Lynch running in to attack Charlotte and calling her a b**** on this week’s SmackDown Live being designed to earn a cheer. According to John Pollock of Post Wrestling, WWE is now presenting both women as having valid points and not trying to push either as a face or a heel.

That’s going to get her cheered.

Opinion: I don’t know if it’s WWE not being willing to admit that they’ve blown this or something else, but not just admitting that the fans see Lynch as the face in the whole thing is astounding. Charlotte is a natural heel and Lynch can do almost whatever she wants in the ring and on the microphone, but for some reason WWE is still trying to make us boo her. It’s not working, but that’s never stopped them before.
