Backstage News On Who Shawn Michaels Might Be Facing At WrestleMania 35

Life could be a dream. Earlier this month, Shawn Michaels confirmed that he will indeed be getting back in the ring for the first time in eight and a half years at Crown Jewel. Michaels will be teaming with Triple H to face off against the Undertaker and Kane in a tag match, but that of course brings up a big question: what about a singles match? Well of course it’s a possibility, and WWE might have an opponent in mind.

It’s not like it hasn’t been discussed.

According to the WrestleTalk Twitter account, a source inside the WWE has said that current plans are calling for Michaels to face AJ Styles at WrestleMania 35 next year. At the moment, Michaels is only announced for the tag match at Crown Jewel. His last singles match was at WrestleMania 26 against the Undertaker in a Career vs. Streak match. A match with Styles has been discussed before, though nothing ever came of it.

Opinion: I’m not sure if this is actually going to happen, but it certainly would be a match that people want to see. If they do go through with it, I’d hope that it lives up to most of the hype. This would have been the best match in the world about ten years ago, but now it might not be so easy to pull off. I’d be fine if Michaels only wrestled one more match (or zero for that matter) but if it has to be a singles match, Styles is as good a choice as any.
