Get well soon. There are all kinds of reasons for a wrestler to go on the shelf and unfortunately quite a few of them can be health related. You never know when someone is going to be taken out of action for one reason or another and it can be a big blow to ongoing storylines. That is the case again in WWE, but this time it seems to continue a long running problem.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Adam Pearce announced that WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Piper Niven was not cleared to compete this week and thus did not appear. According to Fightful Select, Niven is dealing with a short term illness and is expected to return in a week or two. At the moment, there are no plans to vacate the titles or to find a new partner for fellow champion Chelsea Green. This comes less than a month after Niven was announced as Green’s replacement partner after Sonya Deville was injured.
Niven is a force when she is around. Check out her time in WWE:
Opinion: I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a title with as many issues as the Women’s Tag Team Titles. One thing after another goes wrong with them, to the point where it is almost impossible to get any momentum going as everything keeps having to stop. That seems to be the case again, but if Niven is able to return to the ring rather quickly, maybe it won’t be as rough as believed.
What does this mean for the titles? Who should be the next challengers? Let us know in the comments below.
