That’s a different way to go. We are now done with WrestleMania 37 and that means it is time to start looking at what happened. There was even more room to keep things moving during this year’s edition as the show took place over two nights. This year’s show featured several title changes, with a few of them being last minute decisions. Now we know a bit more about one of them.
A first title win can mean a lot to a wrestler’s career. It shows that they have arrived and are ready to move up to the next level. WWE has quite a few championships to pick from and that means there are several a wrestler can win to move them up the card in the hurry. However, the first title win is no guarantee and that seems to be the case following a WrestleMania title change.
According to Fightful Select, one of the final changes to the WrestleMania card was to have Sheamus defeat Riddle to win the United States Title during night two. The original plan called for Riddle to retain his title and continue his feud with Sheamus going forward. Following the title loss, Riddle was defeated by Bobby Lashley the following night on Monday Night Raw, while Sheamus did not appear on the show. There is no word on why the plans were changed. This also goes against a previous story that said Riddle was never meant to be the champion long term, which led to the title change.
It was a heck of a showdown. Check out the match and the fallout:
Opinion: This is one of the more confusing decisions that WWE has made as of late, as it seemed that Riddle could have gone on a good bit longer with the title. Sheamus winning the belt does make sense though, as he did very well during his feud with Drew McIntyre. I’m not sure where the whole thing is going, but hopefully Riddle finds a way out of a pretty nasty fall down the ladder.
