Another Kind Of #1: The Usos Did Something For The First Time Ever At Summerslam

There’s a first time for everything. WWE presented its annual Summerslam event over the weekend, marking the thirty fifth edition of the show. As usual, the event was one of the biggest of the year and featured some of the top names in all of WWE. That means making it onto the card is a big deal, and it turns out that two of the people on the show did something no one has ever done before.

One of the matches on the Summerslam card saw the Usos successfully defend the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles against the Street Profits. According to the Wrestling Stats & Info Twitter account, this marks the first time that a team has defended a Tag Team Title at consecutive Summerslams (not counting Kickoff Shows). The Usos defeated the Mysterios at Summerslam 2021 and have held the titles for over a year.

Not counting kickoff matches, the @WWEUsos are the first duo in @WWE history to defend a tag team title at two consecutive #SummerSlam PPV events.

Opinion: I can always go for trivia like this, though it does kind of show how long the Usos have been champions. At some point WWE needs to move the titles on to someone else, but that does not seem to be likely anytime soon. You can only get so much mileage out of the same team holding the titles and the Usos seem to have reached that point a pretty good while ago.
