Hand them over. There are all kinds of titles in wrestling and it can be an important moment when someone wins one of those championships. It means the beginning and the ending of a title reign, some of which can lead to a new phase of someone’s career. That was the case this weekend, as two new champions were crowned on the same night at the same show.

Two titles changed hands this weekend at AEW Double Or Nothing. First up, Will Ospreay defeated Roderick Strong to become the new International Champion. Second, Mercedes Mone defeated Willow Nightingale to become the new TBS Champion. This was Mone’s in-ring debut for the promotion. All over the champions with titles on the line successfully defended their titles.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes a show feel more important as it means you have some new stars being featured. Both Ospreay and Mone are stars who have been treated as big deals but now they are a bit higher up on the food chain in the company. It also means that the former champions now need something new to do and we could be in for some interesting ways forward for everyone involved.
