One of each. Titles are some of the most important parts of a wrestling promotion as they identify the top stars in any company. Any fan can understand the idea that a wrestler holding a shiny belt is among the most important wrestlers around and it makes a big difference when they are on the line. In this case though, two champions are going to be facing off with only one title on the line.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Where The Power Lies: New Authority Figure Named On AEW Dynamite (You Might Know Him)
The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Will Ospreay win the Casino Gauntlet match to become the new #1 contender to the AEW World Title. Ospreay’s title shot will come at Forbidden Door on June 30, though his International Title, which he won last weekend at Double Or Nothing, will not be on the line. Both of Ospreay’s title shots have come by winning Casino Gauntlet matches.

Opinion: This is quite the showdown for the AEW World Title and it should answer some questions. While Strickland is the reigning World Champion, Ospreay has certainly become one of the biggest stars in the company. That is something that AEW will want to build on, though I’m curious to see if they are willing to push him all the way to the top of the promotion over Strickland.
