She has a good reason. With so many wrestlers in the industry today, it can be hard to find one who really stands out. You get one every now and then, but one of the best ways to gain a reputation is to walk away when you are still a major star. That was the case with one of the biggest female names in wrestling back in 2015, but now we know a bit more about why she’s back.

Earlier this week, WOW Women of Wrestling announced their return, with the surprise of AJ Mendez being involved as both a color commentator and an executive producer. According to PWInsider.com, Mendez chose to return in this situation because it allowed her to continue with her projects in Hollywood. WOW Women of Wrestling also offered her the chance to be an executive without having to give up much of her schedule, which would not have been the case in WWE or AEW. Mendez will not be able to wrestle due to her neck injuries.

Mendez is quite the star to land. Check out what she could do during her in-ring career:

FULL MATCH - AJ Lee vs. Paige - Divas Title Match: WWE Battleground 2014

FULL MATCH - Dolph Ziggler & Kaitlyn vs. Big E & AJ Lee - Mixed Tag Team Match: SummerSlam 2013

Brie Bella vs. AJ Lee: Raw, November 17, 2014

Opinion: This makes perfect sense and good for Mendez for getting what she wanted. Not everyone is going to be able to do that and it is cool to see her getting to set her own terms. She has the personality and resume to make something like this work and I’m sure WOW is happy with the high profile name. Maybe this can work out well for everyone and it certainly was a nice surprise.

What do you think of Mendez returning to wrestling? How will she do in the role? Let is know in the comments below.
