They’re at it again. The rise of AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works as there are now two top level promotions in the United States. This allows fans to see more high level wrestling than they have been able to see in about twenty years, which opens up a lot of doors. However, later this year, those doors are going to be facing in the same direction at the same time.

The Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts has announced that NXT Battleground will take place at the venue on May 28 at 7:30pm. This is the same day and nearly the same time as AEW Double Or Nothing 2023 is set to take place. The shows will be going head to head with each other for one of the only times since the companies’ weekly television shows went head to head ever Wednesday in the early days of AEW Dynamite.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that happens every so often and it is going to make for a rather long night. It’s not something that I want to see very often but for a weekend, it can make for a nice night. What matters is getting a lot of quality wrestling contest out there and there will certainly be quite a bit of it out there that weekend. If both shows try even harder than usual, good for everyone involved.
