It’s a niche thing. There are a lot of different ways to prevent professional wrestling and some of them are going to look a little bit different than others. For the most part though, it still comes down to wrestling and in some cases, it can look very similar to a regular wrestling match with a twist. That is certainly the case with one type of wrestling and AEW is looking to celebrate it.
Aside from a straight one on one match, one of the most common types of wrestling is a tag team match. Tag team wrestling has been around for decades and can offer some of the most exciting wrestling that you will see, with some incredible comebacks and fast paced segments, which have worked for a very long time. It is something with a deep history and the idea will be honored soon.
During this week’s AEW Dynamite, FTR announced that there will be a Tag Team Appreciation Night on August 12. At the moment, there is no word on what that will include or who will be participating. This came as FTR signed their official AEW contracts and was included as one of their official requirements in order to sign. Tag team wrestling was mentioned as a focal point of AEW upon the company’s founding.
AEW has treated it as something special. Check out some of their tag matches:
Opinion: This is certainly something different and something that a lot of fans are likely to go for. Tag team wrestling is a rather popular idea and something that could be a rather welcome one off idea. It isn’t something that you can do all the time but for a special show, that is the kind of different thinking that you don’t get in WWE. AEW having the kind of tag team depth that they can offer helps a good bit as well.
