Honeymoon over? AEW has only been around a little over two years at this point, with Double Or Nothing 2021 marking the two year anniversary of their first event. The promotion has done rather well during their time and they have established themselves as one of the hottest wrestling companies to come along in a very long time. However, not everything is going to work perfectly, and that might be the case again.
According to the Pro Wrestling Torch podcast, Wade Keller and Jason Powell mentioned that there have been backstage issues between AEW’s Executive Vice Presidents, including Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks. It is not clear what has been causing the problems. Some of the group is said to not be speaking to each other, though it is not clear what caused the issues or which people have the biggest problems, but that might not even be the biggest issue.
Powell also mentioned that an unnamed person whom AEW would want to bring into the company does not seem interested, as the infighting has made them think twice about signing. There is no word on who the potential signing would be, though the recent WWE releases, including Samoa Joe, as well as Daniel Bryan, whose contract expired last month, would be possibilities.
These guys have been in the ring a few times before. Check out another kind of fight they can have:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that, if true (and that is the BIG issue), could cause AEW a lot of problems. If these four people are not on the same page, I’m not sure what kind of a future AEW has. Yes they would be able to survive, but how many people watch the show because of those four? They are the founders of the company and not having them around in full could cause some major issues for everyone involved. I hope that it is not true, though it could be very interesting if it is.
What would this mean for AEW? Which of the group is the move valuable? Let us know in the comments below.
