What could have been. When you watch a wrestling show, you will see all kinds of things take place, some of which you might not find all that interesting. It might make you wonder what else the promotion could have done instead, though it is rare to see what else was considered. Now we know what one promotion almost did for a major story, though they went in a different direction.

Last month, Kenny Omega made his return to AEW action after over a year away due to a case of diverticulitis. Omega has since entered a feud with the Don Callis Family, teaming with Will Ospreay to fight the group. According to Sean Ross Sapp in a Fightful Q&A, AEW considered Jack Perry as Omega’s first opponent but the plans were changed for unknown reasons. There is no word on if the Perry vs. Omega feud will happen at some point in the future.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that can make for some interesting developments, as it makes me wonder why AEW went in the direction they chose. Maybe they did not like the idea o the pairing or maybe they did not want Perry to lose to Omega, but either way, we did not get what they had in mind. It might be something that is revisited later, but for the time being, AEW is going somewhere else.
