They do have a bit of pull. There are a lot of wrestling promotions in the world today but only a handful of them are at the top of the heap. Those promotions are able to do some things that you do not see elsewhere and it can make for some very interesting moments. That seems to be the case again, as there were some international strings being pulled over the weekend.

Last Friday, Kenny Omega lost the Impact Wrestling World Title to Christian Cage during the debut episode of AEW Rampage. The following night, Omega successfully defended the AAA Mega Championship against Andrade El Idolo at AAA TripleMania 29. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the original plan called for El Idolo to win the title but AEW requested that the title change be postponed. AEW has control over Omega’s finishes and did not want Omega losing on back to back nights. Omega is currently scheduled to defend the AEW World Title on September 5 at All Out.

I can see why AEW would be worried. Check out the Omega they want to protect:

Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise and ultimately, it makes sense. As big of a deal as AAA might be, AEW is that much bigger. AEW needs to take care of their biggest star and he can drop the AAA title later on anyway. It might not be fair to AAA and the moment seemed primed for El Idolo, but at least they have something to look forward to in the future.

What did you think of the move? Which title will Omega lose next? Let us know in the comments below.
