There isn’t room for everyone. Various wrestlers have been moving around the industry as of late with all kinds of them going from one promotion to another. That can make for some interesting moves, as wrestlers are suddenly getting opportunities that they never have before. It turns out that one wrestler is not going to get another opportunity that he has gotten before.
Buddy Matthews, formerly known as Buddy Murphy, was one of the dozens of wrestlers who were released from WWE earlier this year. Matthews has wrestled a pair of independent matches since his release, but has yet to sign with a major promotion. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW will not be bringing Matthews in. There is no word on why they passed on signing him.
Someone is going to get a steal. Check out who is available on the free agent market:
Opinion: I’m not sure why AEW passed on Matthews but he is certainly someone that is going to get a chance somewhere. He got to show what he can do in WWE more than once but for some reason that was not good enough for them. I would be surprised if he doesn’t get a shot in a fairly high level promotion sooner than later and whoever gets him will be rather lucky.
