That’s kind of the point. AEW has not been around all that long and yet they are already the second biggest wrestling promotion in the world. That isn’t easy to do but they have managed to pull it off at a pretty impressive level. You can feel the momentum, but at the same time it would be better to feel something a little more concrete. Now they can do just that.

No matter how you look at it, wrestling is a business, and a business is supposed to make money. While AEW does make money, it hasn’t been quite the same thing since the Coronavirus spread. Since then, AEW has not been able to allow fans to come to their events, but that hasn’t stopped them from either running, or as it turns out, bringing money into the promotion.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW made a small profit in April, despite having no fans in attendance. The lower costs of taping shows in advance and not having to bring in wrestlers as often offset the lost gate revenue, leaving the TNT money and merchandising to bring in money. There is no word on how much of a profit they have made, or if they are likely to do the same going forward.

It was a big month. Check out some of April’s highlights:

Opinion: That’s great news for AEW and not something that a lot of companies are going to be able to do after years, let alone less than a single year. AEW has hit the ground running and is showing no signs of slowing down. That’s very impressive and hopefully they can continue to make it work. Having more high level wrestling is a great thing and AEW has done well so far. Now keep it going.
