It’s something different. There have been all kinds of changes to WWE under the company’s new ownership, some of which have taken quite the different direction for a lot of people. That makes for some interesting situations, as fans are able to get a different perspective on something they have seen for a very long time. Now they might be getting that again, but not from the wrestlers.

According to Fightful by way of Cagesideseats.com, WWE may be introducing a referee camera in the near future. There is no word on when or where the camera could debut, or how frequently it could be used. WCW originally used the concept in the early 1990s and TNA used it as well in the early 2010s. This is part of WWE’s changes to production following the departure of Kevin Dunn.

Opinion: While I can’t imagine this being some kind of a game changer or breakthrough move for WWE, there is something nice about seeing some fresh ideas in WWE. The company has done things the same way for so long now that it doesn’t have quite the same impact. Just throwing in a fun little feature like this feels like something different and maybe it could be a nice change of pace.
