WWE have always been adamant in their message to ‘not try this at home’. While most of us have at one point or another attempted to wrestle, at least we can still say we are here to tell the tale. The same cannot be said for Addie Cook…

According to a report byWrestlingInc and FOX 2 Now, 2 year old Addie Cook passed away after her parents performed wrestling moves on her, causing her to suffer multiple injuries.

EMS arrived at the house of Richard Gamache Jr., aged 24 and Cheyenne Cook, aged 19 to find Cook’s daughter, Addie Cook suffering a seizure. They found signs of abuse and trauma on the girl, taking her into hospital. Just days later, she would pass away in hospital due to the injuries sustained by her parents.

Gamache and Cook had performed multiple wrestling moves on Addie, including the famous ‘Batista Bomb’ and a ‘Body Slam,’ according to reports. One such move resulted in the child’s head hitting a concrete wall beside their bed while he had been ‘playing’ with her.

Gamache pled his innocence at first, but later mentioned to authorities that Addie may have suffered head trauma after her head hit the concrete. Detectives would later discover more evidence of abuse through texts sent between Gamache and Cook, one of which was a photo sent of Addie’s face on May 13. The photo displays a bruised Addie were accompanied by a message by Gamache that said the bruises had been caused because he was ‘playing rough’ with Addie.

Police have went on record in saying that Cook did not want to stop the abuse because it could have led to her losing custody of Addie or endangering her relationship with Gamache. It should be noted that Gamache lived in the house for only six days prior to when Addie was taken to hospital.

WWE released a heartfelt response to this incident, explaining that it is criminal behavior and there is no justification for what they did.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic death and hope that the guilty parties are brought to justice,” the company stated. “There is no excuse or justification for the brutal and ultimately fatal beating of a 2-year-old child by a grown man. This is a clear case of criminal intent and a lack of parental supervision.”

Both parents have since been arrested. Gamache now faces either an abuse charge or neglect resulting in a child’s death and has a $500 thousand cash-only bond. Cook is now faced with the charge of endangering the welfare of a child and has a $2500 cash-only bond.

Editor’s Note:

I think it is truly pathetic that a parent could do that to their child. I don’t care what the stakes are, the child should be what matters. Both of these people, Cheyenne and Richard… They deserve to be in prison. No parent should treat their children that way. I am glad WWE responded, because this could potentially be bad press for them.
