Watch: Triple H and John Cena Go at It for the WWE Championship at ‘Night of Champions’ 2008

WWE uploaded to their official YouTube channel the full match between Triple H and John Cena at ‘Night of Champions’ in 2008 for the WWE Championship.

The ‘Raw’ brand main evented ‘Night of Champions‘ as these two clashed for the title. The feud between these two actually started back in January at the ‘Royal Rumble.’ There, Cena was victorious in the Royal Rumble match, earning the right to face the Champion of his choosing at ‘WrestleMania 24.’

Cena wanted his shot early, agreeing to face then-Champion Randy Orton at ‘No Way Out,’ which he would win by disqualification, meaning Orton retained the title.

On the same night, Triple H earned a shot at the WWE Championship at ‘WrestleMania’ after winning an Elimination Chamber match.

Cena was furious the night after ‘No Way Out’ on ‘Raw,’ when he called out Orton and demanded a rematch. General Manager William Regal announced that the two would square off in a non-title match with Triple H as the special guest referee and if Cena won, he would join the ‘WrestleMania; match.

While Cena was victorious in this match, Orton came out on top at ‘WrestleMania.’ At ‘Backlash,’ the three would meet in a Fatal 4-Way match also involving JBL. Triple H last eliminated Orton to win the Championship.

After defeating Jeff Hardy to earn a shot at ‘Night of Champions,’ Cena got his final chance to prove he can become WWE Champion again and finally beat Triple H.

With the WWE Draft, Triple H was drafted to ‘SmackDown,’ meaning that if Cena didn’t defeat him, the WWE Championship would move to that brand. Everything rode on this one match.
