PWInsider and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter have provided an update on where Rey Mysterio may be headed as negotiations fell through with GFW.

While there is no definitive answer as to where Mysterio is headed, it will not be Global Force Wrestling. Mysterio did have an offer from the company but he opted not to take it.

WrestlingInc had noted that Mysterio was in talks with WWE over the summer but those did stop as Vince McMahon didn’t want to work with Konnan, who acted as Mysterio’s representative. It was noted that while the two parties were talking, there wasn’t anything serious as Mysterio did intend on signing with GFW due to the easier schedule and would still allow him time and the freedom to do other projects. Dave Meltzer said from the beginning there was nothing significant to any WWE reports in regards to Mysterio signing with the company.

It is being said that Mysterio is now focused on training his son Dominick for a pro wrestling career whilst being heavily involved in a promotion known as The Crash in Mexico.

Initially, GFW wanted Mysterio to face Alberto El Patron at the November 5 Bound For Glory pay-per-view, according to The Observer. Even Jeff Jarrett vs. Patron was talked about, though with the recent news on Jarrett within the company, this is now likely off the books. There is no word on what Patron is doing now for the event.

It should be noted that Mysterio is currently suffering a minor ankle injury stemming from an event in Austria for Catch Wrestling. He should be back soon.

If you haven’t seen Rey Mysterio in a while and need a reminder of how talented this luchador is, we highly suggest watching the video below featuring Eddie Guerrero taking on the ultimate underdog.
