A new player enters the game! New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced an upcoming game due for release later this year, according to WrestlingInc.

At the NJPW Fan Festa the day prior to ‘Wrestle Kingdom 12,’ Kevin Kelly on behalf of NJPW announced that the company would be partnering with Spike Chunsoft to produce a video game with talent from the company in it.

The game in question is titled ‘Fire Pro Wrestling’ and is already available without the NJPW talent on Steam. However, the game is in a phase known as ‘early-access,’ meaning that it is still being developed and open to the public to play in the meantime.

The announcement by NJPW and Spike Chunsoft is huge in that it will finally allow fans of the company to play legally as their favorite talent.

At this time, it is being said that Spike Chunsoft has the NJPW license to use for the game, meaning that any number of talent possessed by the company can make an appearance.

In addition, the game will include a full story mode and at the very least, the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

During the announcement, NJPW talent Togi Makabe and KUSHIDA competed in a tournament, showcasing off their characters in the game. KUSHIDA was ultimately victorious in that battle.

While you can find the game for around $20 on Steam currently, the full version will be released on PC and PlayStation 4 on December 18 this year.
