Former WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio has joined ‘Aro Lucha’ as a co-owner and performer, amidst rumors that he would be returning to WWE to compete,

The Tennessean has published an article announcing that the masked luchador has joined the Nashville-based wrestling promotion as both a performer and co-owner.

There may also be a crowdfunding effort that would allow fans to invest in minority stakes of the company.

While it isn’t still impossible for Mysterio to make his return to WWE, this definitely hurts the idea that he could be placed under contract as he will have prior commitments with Aro Lucha.

On that note, Aro Lucha has already sold out its debut event at the Nashville Fairgrounds back in December, where they filmed a pilot episode.

Since that time, the company has also held non-televised events in Texas, though the pilot episode in and of itself has a fantastic cast.

Names included in this were Mysterio himself, MVP, Johnny Mundo, James Storm, Hurricane Helms, Taya Valkyrie, Reby Hardy and Willie Mack.

Check out the ‘sizzle reel’ from the pilot episode taping:

At the time of writing, Aro Lucha does not have a television partner, though co-founder Jason Brown says they are deciding on options as to where they will produce the show. Filming is expected to begin in May or June.

Konnan is heading the creative department in the company, which reportedly aims to produce a family-friendly product. This may be why Mysterio opted to join it.

The surprise 2017 Royal Rumble match participant had the following to say on joining the Aro Lucha family:

“I think what we are doing with Aro Lucha being fan-owned is revolutionary. We are giving the fans something they have never had before, a voice and a chance to get in on the action.”
