Since the dawn of the Women’s Revolution, the women of the WWE have really broke the mold of what people thought was possible.

Today, WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative, Triple H, announced the name and dates for the upcoming Women’s Tournament.

WWE first revealed plans for the tournament earlier this year during a press conference led by Triple H.

The tournament will now be known as the “Mae Young Classic” and will see 32 female Superstars from all over the globe compete at Full Sail University for the WWE.

The taping of the tournament is to take place on the 13th and 14th of July. This falls on a Thursday and Friday.

WWE.com would than release a statement in regards to the tournament:

WWE has announced that the first-ever Mae Young Classic women’s tournament will take place Thursday, July 13, and Friday, July 14, from Full Sail Live in Orlando, Fla.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. ET via www.nxttickets.com.

The tournament, named after WWE Hall of Famer and one of the greatest WWE Superstars in history, Mae Young, will feature 32 of the top female competitors from around the world participating in a single-elimination tournament. The unprecedented event will stream later this summer exclusively on WWE Network.

“The Mae Young Classic will mark a significant moment in the evolution of WWE,” said Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events and Creative. “We are proud to provide this unique opportunity for the best female talent from around the world.”

Additional information on the Mae Young Classic will be announced in the coming weeks.

It was recently announced that Jim Ross will be on the commentary team for the event.

Editor’s Note:

I strongly feel that this is the tournament I’ve wanted the most and for the longest. I’ve always been a fan of women’s wrestling, even sticking by it through the days they shared as ‘Divas’ to become what they are now.

I have my own thoughts on the tournament and predictions for opponents, but I’ll plug my Twitter @SOSNH1995 where you can find a thread that explains that.

Are you excited for the Mae Young Classic? Is this a good name? Who do you predict will appear and win? Sound off, let us know here in the comments or on our Facebook page or Twitter account what you think.
