Following our report yesterday on Jeff Jarrett taking a “leave of absence” from GFW, we have information on what led to the exit and the ripple effect it has had.

According to PWInsider, Ed Nordholm was the one who made the decision on Jarrett’s behalf for him to take the “leave of absence.”

He met with Jarrett in Nashville, TN today to discuss this. Jarrett is likely to have been unaware of this decision beforehand, as he was scheduled to host an NFL Fantasy Draft party at his home with GFW staff but that is no longer happening. The staff will now hold that at HQ.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider explains that they have spoken to a number of people and the driving factor in this incident appears to have been Jarrett’s alleged “erratic behavior.” They were told the situation had been building for months. It reportedly really started back when Jarrett screamed at Bob Ryder at a TV taping, which sources claim was “uglier” then what people on the outside realize.

The final straw was reportedly the AAA ‘TripleMania’ show when Jarrett showed up and wasn’t in the best shape. He had put on weight and seemingly stumbled down to the ring before only wrestling a few minutes.

PWInsider have attempted to contact Jarrett, though they were unsuccessful.

They note that one of their sources said Jarrett was not “blameless” but there was “blame to be thrown in all directions” in regards to the situation. They claimed Jarrett had been criticized for were related to him following marching orders out of loyalty to Anthem. This includes defending Anthem in the ‘Broken Hardyz’ situation.

Johnson notes that there was a belief among some that Jarrett was trying his best to step in between Nordholm and the wrestling of thing as he didn’t understand the wrestling side of things.

One of these sources used the example of bringing in Alberto el Patron. They had him fly in secret to Tampa, FL. Nordholm took a picture with him and tweeted it out, which ruined the surprise.

The same source claimed Jarrett, despite needing a break, had been bending over backwards just to try and balance everything.

With the indefinite break for Jarrett, various meetings were held yesterday in Nashville in regards to the future of the company. No creative decisions were made and Scott D’Amore and Dutch Mantel remain on the writing team.

Another source pointed out that John Gaburick is still with the company and was retained as a “Plan B” if the Jarrett regime didn’t pan out as they wanted. Gaburick was at GFW HQ and the production studio for the meetings. There is some belief Gaburick gained a lot of power in the company, but others have said otherwise so at this time, it is contradictory or subjective.

Kevin Sullivan is a long-time Jarrett ally and helped him launch GFW back in 2014. He currently heads production for GFW Impact.

Interestingly enough, PWInsider was told that despite what is known to the public, the deal between Anthem and GFW is not close to being complete and Anthem does not have ownership over the name. This means that if Jarrett does not return, the GFW name will leave with him. If Anthem has no ownership over the name or likeness, they will have only raised the exposure of the Global Force Wrestling name on an international level. Johnson explains that this was a dumb business decision, if this is the case.

This situation also brings into the question of Patron returning as it Jarrett who calmed things down after the airport incident between Paige and Patron earlier this year. Nordholm isn’t too fond on Patron and was intent on releasing him. Could this mean Patron, who has less than a year left on his deal be released or not appear and remain under contract so he cannot compete elsewhere till it runs out.
