Shawn Michaels Talks About WWE Call for the Royal Rumble

Everyone knows that AJ Styles is dying to take on Shawn Michaels in the ring, and he wishes this dream match would take place at Royal Rumble next year.

The question is: could such a match happen at Royal Rumble 2017, and would Shawn Michaels even be interested in participating?

During an interview on 105.3 THE FAN, The Heartbreak Kid responded to rumors that he’d make an appearance at next month’s event. “No one has even contacted me about that show,” he said. “I don’t know if anyone cares that I’m from there. I think the WWE has happily moved on from me.”

It’s nothing against Styles, as Michaels thinks he’s a skilled wrestler. “I met AJ Styles once, he’s a phenomenal young man,” he said. “He’s [a] very nice, very respectable young man and is unbelievably talented.”

Though there’s certainly a lot of admiration there, Michaels said it wouldn’t feel worthwhile for him to come out of retirement for such a match. “I’m honored that my name pops up darn near every week in people’s wish for guys to wrestle. That’s a compliment to me and I’m thankful of that,” he continued. “But I’m very comfortable with my life and being retired.”
