Former WCW and WWE Superstar Sean O’Haire tragically passed away this past Monday at the age of 43. Not long after reports of his death surfaced, further news stated he had apparently committed suicide via hanging.

A new report from TMZ claims WWE had attempted to assist the former Tag Team Champion multiple times over the past six years.

The website says O’Haire battled a “nasty” alcohol addiction, and WWE had put him through sponsored-rehab often:

“Sources close to the situation tell us O’Haire went to WWE-sponsored rehab six times in the past 6 years … including once earlier this year. After he left, we’re told the wrestling company made multiple attempts to get in touch with O’Haire — but he was M.I.A.”

WWE currently has a policy where it offers sponsored-rehab for any former employee, as wrestlers and members of the industry have history of drug and alcohol-related issues. It appears, however, this is just a tragic case of it not being enough.

Editor’s Note

WWE takes responsibility for the tolls wrestling puts on its stars, to some degree. This is just unfortunately a case of a man being in a dark place. Best wishes to his family.
