Rumor: Former ROH Star to be Austin Aries' Partner in NXT Tournament

We previously reported that WWE released more teams taking part in NXT’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Included in this list was Austin Aries, who was billed to be fighting with a “mystery partner.”

That mystery partner may be far less mysterious now. PWInsider claims Team Aries may be rounded off with Roderick Strong. A former Ring of Honor world champion, Strong has worked with Aries in the past in ROH. Together — as a part of the Generation Next stable — they held the ROH tag team titles.

What’s more, Strong parted ways with Ring of Honor in June and has been expected to start work with WWE. This might be the opportunity the company has been waiting for to insert Strong into the lineup — what better way than to start him out with someone he had a good working relationship with in the past.
