John Cena has spoken out on recent reports that he may be returning to WWE television in a non-competitive role while he recovers from surgery.

In a tweet on Sunday afternoon, Cena rubbished the reports claiming he will only return to ‘be a champion’.

Recent reports had suggested Cena would return to television much sooner than planned, but only in an ‘on-air’ role during WWE’s now-annual Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.

Cena isn’t expected to return to the active roster until January at the earliest, with a possible Royal Rumble return in the pipeline.
