Former heavyweight champion of the world Riddick Bowe is looking at making a return to the ring – the wrestling ring.

The 45-year-old retired from boxing more than four years ago having lost just one of his 45 fights – a defeat to Evander Holyfield which he later avenged. But having struggled with personal problems since hanging up his gloves, Bowe is said to be now considering a move into professional wrestling.

In a tweet on Friday evening, Bowe stated he wants to become the first person to hold heavyweight championships in both boxing and wrestling.

Earlier this year, Bowe announced his desire to become a Muay Thai fighter and entered training in Las Vegas. Bowe went on to make his Muay Thai debut in June, taking on Levgen Golovin in what ultimately turned out to be a very poor display from Bowe, with the Russian fighter knocking Bowe down twice in the first round. He was knocked down a further three times in the second round before the fight was stopped, awarding Golovin the win. Bowe was widely criticised for not showing any intention of defending himself during the match and appearing very out of shape.

Tommy Dreamer, former ECW and WWE superstar has said he has spoken with Bowe regarding training him for a move into wrestling.
