At the “Tables, Ladder, Chairs and Stairs” pay-per-view, former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee lost her rematch against Nikki Bella in an attempt to regain the title. Bella used hairspray to distract Lee and temporarily blind her, and capitalized on that to get the win.

Speculation began to amount after WWE posted a video of Nikki Bella saying Lee was put away “once and for all,” insinuating Lee would be done with WWE. With her real-life husband Phil “CM Punk” Brooks in UFC, there seemed to be some merit.

But per a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lee is merely suffered in real life, and will be out until some time in 2015. According to the report, the company considered doing a major injury angle to write her off television, but went with the hairspray angle instead.

Dave Meltzer notes she may have some backstage heat for her involvement with Punk at his UFC press conference, taking time off to make an appearance with him. Still, it is said not all feel poorly about her, and she is expected to fit back into the picture once she returns.

He also says Lee’s absence is the reason both Natalya and Naomi have been given more television time within the Divas division.

Editor’s Note

Good to hear she’ll be back, but obviously, speedy recovery wishes to her.
