As we reported earlier tonight, rumors have been circulating for quite some time that WWE would debut a new design for the WWE Championship heading into WrestleMania. These rumors began back in 2012, with the first serious reports claiming the belt would make its long-awaited debut when then-champion CM Punk celebrated one year with the title, following his victory at Survivor Series on November 18th.

Tonight on Monday Night Raw, the Rock was presented with a brand new WWE Championship belt, while celebrating his Elimination Chamber victory over CM Punk. The new title – featured above – awaited the People’s Champion in the ring. Rock also made several comments about the old design, singling out John Cena and calling the belt a “toy” that should “never spin”.
