ROH Supercard of Honor VII
April 5, 2013

RD Evans makes his way down with QT Marshall, and grabs a microphone. He says there has been a lot of talk as to who would be QT’s partner in tonight’s big tag team match, and he went all around the globe to find the best partner possible. He mentions a few talents who wanted to be Marshall’s partner, including EEmilio Estevez and Lacey Von Erich – he turned them down because they weren’t deserving enough. He reveals himself as the partner tonight, and QT isn’t a big fan of the reveal.

RD Evans & QT Marshall vs. ACH & Tadarius Thomas

RD tries to start the match, but feigns an injury and tags out right away. QT is in control for several minutes, working over Tadarius Thomas with various rest holds. RD tags hismelf into the match and gets absolutely destroyed by a clothesline from ACH. He locks in a Texas Cloverleaf, but RD makes the save only to get thrown to the outside by Tadarius Thomas. ACH nails a baseball slide on RD, sending him into the guard rail, followed by Air Jordan to the outside onto RD Evans.

ACH stacks up both the heels, and Thomas goes high risk and comes off with a flying senton, taking down both men as the crowd chants “ROH”. They roll back in the ring and Marshall plants ACH with a huge big boot. Somehow RD Evans manages to lift up ACH into the piledriver position, and actually hits him with an inverted Styles Clash. Their momentum doesn’t last for long, as the faces nail QT with a series of capoeira kicks. ACH lands the Big Bang Attack on Marshall for the victory.

Results: ACH & Tadarius Thomas win via pinfall

Kevin Kelly talks about the grudge match between Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas, however Haas announced his retirement from professional wrestling last week. They question what Shelton Benjamin will do tonight. As they begin to hype the next match, a new set of music cuts them off, and Benjamin makes his way out much to the surprise of the commentary team.

Shelton says that he has some bad news, and some worse news. The bad news is, Charlie Haas was too scared to come out and face him – he’s probably in alley somewhere, waiting to jump him. The worse news is that it’s the biggest weekend of the wrestling year, and he doesn’t have a match. He calls some skinny guy named “Cheeseburger” into the ring – apparently he wants to be a wrestler.  Benjamin says the kid has earned his respect for standing up to Charlie Haas, but Mike Bennett interrupts them.

Bennett makes his way to the ring with “Brutal” Bob and Maria. The crowd chants “YES!” and he calls them typical wrestling fans because they started cheering him once he took a few months off. The crowd chants “she screwed Punk” at Maria – awesome. Bennett calls himself the biggest blockbuster in all of entertainment. Everyone wants to sign him. He says he’s about to announce who he’s going to sign with, when Cheeseburger tells him, his father and his…well, a bunch of words I can’t say in this live coverage. Bennett drops him with a big right hand, and Shelton attacks immediately. We get a referee and this is now a match.

Mike Bennett vs. Shelton Benjamin

The two brawl around the ring until Bennett throws Maria in front of him to crawl back to safety. The roll back into the ring and Benjamin lands a splash in the corner followed by a big dropkick. They trade blows in the middle of the ring, until Bennett plans his opponent with a huge spinebuster. Maria gets on the apron and poses with Bennett to draw some heal heat. He starts to mock CM Punk with his “go to sleep” hand motion, and hoists Benjamin up on his shoulders. He tries for a GTS but Shelton rolls it up into a single-leg crab.

Maria causes a distraction and Brutal Bob takes out Benjamin with a giant clothesline. Bennett and Maria make out, and Maria starts to dance on the apron. Benjamin gets Bennett with a whip kick and starts to dance with Maria from behind – she doesn’t realize who he is and continues to dance. Benjamin puts his hands on Maria and she freaks out; he dodges out of the way and Bennett plants her with a superkick! Shelton gets a superkick of his own on Bennett, followed by the dragon suplex – 1..2…NO! Bennett rolls up Shelton and Brutal Bob holds his hands for leverage – 1…2…3.

Results: Mike Bennett wins via pinfall

After the match, Bennett caries an uncontious Maria out of the arena as the crowd applaud Benjamin on a job well done.

World Heavyweight #1 Contender’s Match
Jay Lethal vs. “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin

My internet cut out for about 10 minutes, but when it came back on the fans were chanting “this is awesome” and Elgin threw Lethal into a top turnbuckle with a German suplex. Elgin goes high risk and comes off the top rope for a splash, but Lethal gets his knees up and his opponent comes down hard. Lethal hits a Final Shot transitioned into a Koji Clutch – Elgin barely gets to the ropes before he has to tap out. Jay tries for Lethal Injection, but Elgin blocks it. Superkick attempt – again Elgin blocks the attack.

Elgin fights back and lands a huge back elbow to the temple of Jay Lethal. He puts Lethal into powerbomb positon and throws him square into the turnbuckle. A lariat finds it’s mark, but Jay kicks out. Elgin gets another buckle bomb, but Lethal kips up and hits a draganrana! Lethal Combination, followed by the Lethal Injection! He goes up to the top rope and comes down with the “Macho Man” elbow drop! 1…2…No! They battle up to the top rope, and Elgin comes off with a super powerbomb from the top rope! He picks him up…Elgin Bomb! 1…2…3!

Results: Michael Elgin wins via pinfall

S.C.U.M. hits the ring and takes out Jay Lethal and Michael Elgin after the match. Steve Corino walks up with a mic and asks them if they are proud of the match they just put on. He says it is finally time for S.C.U.M. to destroy Ring of Honor.

10 Man War
Team ROH vs. Team S.C.U.M.

Team S.C.U.M. – Jimmy Jacobs, Cliff Compton, Rhett Titus, Jimmy Rave & Rhino
Team ROH – BJ Whitmer, Mark Briscoe, Mike Mondo, Caprice Coleman, & Cedric Alexander

Not even going to try and call the early goings of this match. People are flying everywhere, and Steve Corino is literally yelling at Kevin Kelly on commentary. After a few minutes, Mark Briscoe comes off the top rope and takes out two members of SCUM. He goes to the top rope and hits “Flying Chicken” to the outside on another two members. There’s a big sequence when everyone starts hitting their finishers and signatures on whoever happens to be in the ring – mass chaos. Briscoe sends Rhino into the corner with a mule kick. Jimmy Rave hits Briscoe with the Rave Clash.

Steve Corino gets up from commentary and starts attacking Caleb Seltzer on commentary. He throws him into the barricade – Caleb is out cold. Corino gets in the ring and gives Rhett Titus a set of handcuffs, which he uses to strap BJ Whitmer to the bottom rope. Rhino throws powder intot he eyes of Mike Mondo, which takes care of him. Alexander comes out of nowhere with a piledriver-esk move on Jacobs, but Rhino hits him with the Gore for a 3-count.

Results: S.C.U.M. wins via pinfall

INTERMISSION

Nigel McGuinness joins Kevin Kelly on commentary for the second half.

“Machine Gun” Karl Anderson vs. Roderick Strong

Anderson takes Strong down into a side headlock, but Strong escapes the hold. An Irish whip sends Strong to the ropes, and he botches a leapfrog over his opponent, only to recover with a dropkick. They fight to the corner with Strong throwing rights and lefts, followed by several knife-edge chops. The brawl to the ouside, and Anderson gets thrown hard into the barricade.

Back in the ring, and Strong backs Anderson into a corner and traps his legs behind the ropes. After a running start, Strong lands a knee to the jaw followed by an Olypic Slam; two-count. Strong lands about a dozen knife-edge chops, followed by another knee to the jaw. He bursts out of the corner, but Karl catches him with a huge spinebuster! They battle to the apron and trade rights; Anderson gets the better of the exchange and nails Roderick with a big book, which almost puts him through the announce table.

He heads up to the top rope and comes down with a huge neckbreaker. Running powerbomb finds its mark! 1…2…No! Strong just gets right back up and is suddenly in control again. Because who cares about ring psychology…? Anderson connects with a spinning sidewalk slam, but only gets a two-count. He lands the Ace Cutter, and tries for the pin: 1…2…3.

Results: Karl Anderson wins via pinfall

Both men adhere to the Code of Honor after the match.

ROH Television Championship
Matt Hardy vs. Adam Cole vs. Matt Taven (c)

Steve Corino takes the microphone from the ring announcer and gives a long, rambling introduction of his own, calling Matt the “Jesus Christ of professional wrestling”. The fans chant “f*ck you Hardy” in response. As the match finally gets started, Cole wastes little time in diving out of the ring and taking out Matt Hardy. There are things happening in the ring, but Taven’s girlfriend is mounting Nigel on commentary for some reason.

Hardy goes for a bulldog on Taven, but runs into a superkick from Adam Cole. Taven rolls him up from behind, but only gets a two-count. Taven gets Cole up for a suplex, and drops him down hard with a shoulder-breaker. The champ then turns his attention to Hardy, and the two fight up to the top rope. Taven with a huge superplex; two-count. Hardy battles back and gets a Twist of Fate on the champ (“Same old sh*t” chant from the crowd) but doesn’t get a pin because Truth Martini is distracting the referee.

Adam Cole walks up to Matt Hardy while the ref is distracted, and kicks him in the balls. Roll-up! 1…2…3! Matt Hardy has been eliminated from the match, and the crowd goes nuts for this. ROH really hates Matt Hardy. Steve Corino gets in the ring and has words with Adam Cole, long enough for Taven to hit an Arm-Trap Headlock Driver for the 3-count.

Results: Matt Taven retains the championship via pinfall

ROH World Tag Team Championship
American Wolves vs. ReDRagon (c)

For those of you who don’t know, the champions known as “ReDRagon” are Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, taking on the “American Wolves” Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards. The champs are in control early on, isolating Richards and keeping him from tagging in his partner. Davey counters into a surfboard stretch out of nowhere, until Fish hits the ring and breaks it up with a kick to the back. Richards catches Bobby Fish with a dropkick and makes the hot tag to Eddie Edwards.

Eddie hits the ring and gets a Codebreaker on Fish. Fisherman Buster finds its mark, but Fish kicks out before the three. The ref gets distrated by Davey on the apron, and the heels again go with the numbers game. The Wolves regroup and attempt stereo suicide dives, but Fish and O’Reilly hit the ring at the same time and catch them with lariats. The champs’ momentum doesn’t last long as they get thrown to the oustide once again; this time the suicide dives find their mark.

ReDRagon battles back and Fish rolls back into the ring. O’Reilly places Davey Richards up against the barricade, and Fish comes off the tope rope with a dropkick to put him through it! Back in the ring after a few moments, and Eddie is being worked over by the heels. He counters a double team manuever by suplexing Fish, and then suplexing O’Reilly on top of his partner. Davey gets the hot tag and goes to town with about a dozen kicks to the mid-section of both guys, stacked up in the corner. He catches Kyle with a kick to the side of the head and bridge pin, but only gets a two-count.

The Wolves catch O’Reilly with a double team Codebreak-type move, followed by a half-dozen slaps to the face. Bridge pin, but Kyle kicks out again. Fish makes it back to the ring and they go to work on Davey Richards, but he takes out Fish and locks in a Trailer Hitch. Fish kicks Davey, but Richards refues to let the hold go! Richards gets him with an ankle lock, and has a submission on both of the champs at the same time. They get to the ropes and he is forced to make the break.

Davey goes for a superkick, but accidentally kicks his own partner as Fish ducks out of the way. He exchanges a series of crazy kicks with O’Reilly, and catches him with a high kick to the temple, and both men fall down exhausted. Big “this is awesome” chant from the crowd. Richards makes the tag to Eddie, but the ref doesn’t see it and he gets caught by the champs. Davey battles back with kicks to the champs, but he gets suplexed right on his head! 1…2…NO! He kicks out! Eddie finally gets into the match and goes up to the top rope with O’Reilly – superplex, rolled into another standing suplex with a kick to the head by Davey Richards. Double stop by Davey, top rope double stop by Eddie – still a kick out before three.

Finish comes when Davey rolls up Fish for a pin, but he gets thrown off into a big kick from O’Reilly on the outside. Fish rolls him up and has a handful of tights for the 3-count.

Results: ReDRagon retains via pinfall

ROH World Heavyweight Championship
Jay Briscoe vs. Kevin Steen (c)

Steen controlls the first part of the match, working over the injured shoulder of the challenger. The battle out to the floor and Briscoe catches the champ with a big back body drop right onto the floor – Nigel is pretty happy about that on commentary. The fight back into the ring and Jay catches Steen with a big elbow to the head. Scoop slam connects, followed by a running knee strike. Briscoe tries for an Irish whip but the champ holds onto the ropes and it strains the injured shoulder. Steen takes advantage and sends him shoulder-first into a steel post.

The attack doesn’t stop there as Steen hoists Briscoe in a Pumphandle position, but drops him down with a shoulder-breaker. The champ locks in an armbar, and Jay barely makes it to the ropes in time. Random “feed me more” chant breaks out – no idea. Jimmy Jacobs hits the ring to cause some interference, but Mark Briscoe runs out of nowhere and attacks him. They fight to the back and the coast is clear for the time being.

Jay lands a Death Valley Driver out of nowhere; two-count. The fight to the top rope and Steen tries for a superpex, but Jay blocks it and forces the champ to the apron. Steen trips him up and Briscoe falls to the mat, leaving him prone for a running cannonball into the corner, driving his head into the turnbuckle. The action spills to the outside as Mark tries for a Jay Driver off the apron, but Steen counters and delivers a huge powerbomb right ino the side of the ring.

Steen heads up to the top rope and tries for a Senton Bomb, but Briscoe gets his knees up! Two more members of S.C.U.M. run out to the ring and the feed cuts out. Seems to be a technical problem with Ring of Honor’s stream – the final minutes of the iPPV have been cut off for everyone watching.

Results: Mark Briscoe wins the World Heavyweight Championship

That’s right – the World Title changes hands for the first time in almost a year, and none of their fans get to see it because their feed cuts out five minutes before the end. All we got to see was Kevin Kelly put it over as “one of the biggest moments in wrestling history” and it cut out again. That’s what you get when you spend your money on iPPV.
