Popular independent wrestling star El Generico, who performed for several companies including Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, has finally made his WWE debut on their developmental brand, NXT. What was certainly a dream come true for many of Generico’s fans has quickly turned negative for many who hoped the “Generic Luchador” would keep his beloved gimmick.

Generico made his debut with NXT under his real name – Rami Sebei – tagging with former Ring of Honor star Kassius Ohno (Chris Hero) against the Wyatt Family. As you can see in the photo below, Rami wrestled the match without his iconic match. The backlash from wrestling fans on the internet has been almost unanimously negative, with many sending hateful Tweets and messages to WWE and COO Triple H, as they feel the legacy of El Generico has been “ruined”.
