All this time, we’ve been wondering whether the WWE Championship or Universal Championship would be the main event of WrestleMania. As it turns out, the company wants a non-title match to close the show.

As you might have already guessed, that match is the Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns. According to Dave Meltzer on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio (subscription required), WWE is looking at the match as a “very probable, if not for sure main event.”

That comes with the caveat of “it’s WWE, and they change shit so much, so often.” Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar would almost certainly be the back-up if they were to change their minds on Roman closing the show. Social media and analytics show that fans are most interested in Roman vs. Taker, with the Universal Championship match a close second.

Reigns is expected to win the match, and WWE is under no illusions about what the crowd response to that victory would be–doubly true if this goes on last and Roman stands over a defeated Undertaker to close the show.

But that’s the thinking backstage–for today, at least. Poor Orton vs. Wyatt. You never had a chance with against Roman and all these part-timers.
