Wrestling and politics have a long, strange history together, even discounting the upcoming presidency of Donald Trump. Now we’ve got another Hall of Famer seeking to make his mark on world of politics. This time, it’s the FIVE TIME (and also a few more) champ.

Booker T announced that he’d be running for mayor of Houston, TX in 2020.

This report comes to us via a radio transcript from a local CBS affiliate. They quote Booker as saying “You heard it, 2020 I’m preparing. I’m preparing myself to run for mayor of the city.”

Terrance Gerin–who you may know better as Rhyno–called into the show to offer his support. “You are over qualified for the job,” he said. “Wrestling not only prepares you for life but it prepares you for positions like that because you feel the emotion from the people you know what they want, you’ve built yourself from where you were to where you’re at now.”

Rhyno made a failed bid for congress in the recent election, running on a conservative platform in a traditionally Democratic part of Michigan.

Booker would join Jesse Ventura as one of few wrestling personalities able to successfully enter civil service. Ventura successfully ran for mayor of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota in the 90s, and eventually served a term as governor of that state.

Never say never when it comes to wrestling–or politics, as we’ve learned.
